Planning guide

Planning medical travel to India

Medical tourism means travelling to another country for medical care. A useful plan connects the provider's assessment with the practical journey: who travels, what each supplier is responsible for, what still needs confirming, and how the return home will work.

Start with the questions you need answered

Write down what you want to understand before you compare destinations or providers. Keep your clinical questions for an appropriate treating professional. A logistics platform, a low advertised price or a convenient flight cannot determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Make three lists: confirmed information, questions awaiting a response, and preferences you can change. This prevents a hotel choice or an example price from being mistaken for a confirmed medical plan.

  • Who has reviewed the proposed care and who will explain alternatives?
  • Which dates depend on assessment or a provider decision?
  • Will someone travel with you, and what practical help can they provide?

Compare the same scope, not just the headline price

Ask each provider and supplier to describe their part separately. A hospital estimate, a hotel reservation and a coordinator's fee may cover different dates, people and cancellation terms. Put each line into the same currency using an explicitly dated conversion if needed.

Our budget worksheet uses amounts you enter. It does not fetch live supplier prices. Missing costs remain visible so that an incomplete subtotal does not become an apparent all-inclusive offer.

Build an itemized budget

Make responsibilities visible

For each step, record the responsible organization, a named contact when one is assigned, the document confirming scope, and what happens if circumstances change. Keep the hospital's clinical role separate from transport, accommodation and administrative support.

Before committing to non-refundable travel, resolve the conditions that could change your itinerary. Ask providers about follow-up arrangements and where to obtain copies of records. The CDC explains why planning for complications and continuity of care matters when considering treatment abroad.

Prepare your return planning checklist

Check credentials at the source

Confirm a hospital's accreditation and a doctor's registration with the organizations that issue them, not only with the hospital's or a facilitator's own website.

What you can do with Prognova today

Book a free, non-medical planning call with a coordinator, attach any reports you already have, and compare Prognova's starting prices with typical prices at home. A coordinator then asks hospitals in Delhi NCR for written quotes and arranges your stay, transfers, language support and a hospital visa invitation letter.

Prognova coordinates your trip; it does not give medical advice. The hospital and your doctor decide on treatment, and nothing is booked or charged until you accept a written quote.

Keep this checklist

Print this page or copy these headings into your notes. Keep sensitive medical details out of public planning tools.

  • Write down your unanswered questions.
  • Separate clinical decisions from logistics preferences.
  • Collect itemized estimates and their validity dates.
  • Identify the responsible party for each step.
  • Discuss return and follow-up arrangements with the relevant professionals.
